Best nation ever
With a military coup going on at the Fiji islands it seemed to me like it was time to show off my very own nation, created at NationStates, a game I've been playing for a long time. This is the best nation ever, and has all the properties of a good succesful prosperous country with no annoying setbacks like democracy...

Munatan
The Commonwealth of Munatan is a massive, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 7.681 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Beef-Based Agriculture.
The government is avowedly atheist, the country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources, the nation has recently been attributed to the funding of terrorist organisations, and people regularly disappear off the streets and all evidence of them is destroyed. Crime is a problem. Munatan's national animal is the Wolverine, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Manari.
As you can see, Munatan is ruled by a enlightened dictator who gives everyone the freedom they want and ensures prosperity for all. As everyone pays 100% taxes all the money is distributed equally in a true marxist way. This isn't communism, its marxism and it works.
There are no silly things like religion and the focus is on defence to ensure our independance and sovereignty for the future. As long as everyone stays out of trouble they have all the freedom they want. It works!
Ok, so this is a dictatorship but still, everyone has money and lives in prosperity and peace. Who needs democracy really? Thats really an overrated principle that generates nothing but frustration and feelings of helplessness. When was the last time the politicians kept their word on anything? Its like president Bush once said 'things would be easier if this were a dictatorship, with me as the dictator of course.' Despite the fact that Bush is still a moron he may have had a point there. A good dictator, one who thinks about the people, might actually do well. Its like a strong emperor of old. As long as the ruler was strong, the empire prospered. As soon as a weak ruler shows up, things collapse. Hmm, maybe not such a good idea after all....
The emphasis should therefore be on the word 'enlightened' as it means that the ruler is strong and just and the realm prosperes. Thats the way things should be.
